Apps and media rooted in Scripture, built to last.

Stone and Scroll Studios is an independent studio making Bible apps and ministry media for everyday life. Our first app, Scarlet Thread, turns the morning scroll into time in the Word — Scripture one card at a time, every thread leading to the cross.

The Studio

Why “Stone and Scroll”?

The name is the mission in two words. Everything we make stands on both.

Stone — truth that doesn’t move

Apps come and go. Feeds churn by the hour. We build on the one foundation that has outlasted every empire, language, and technology since: the unchanging Word of God.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” — Matthew 24:35 (NKJV)

Scroll — the Word, written down

Before print, before screens, faith was carried on scrolls — copied by hand, read aloud, treasured. We carry that same text into the place people actually read now: the phone in their hand, first thing in the morning.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)

Stone and Scroll Studios LLC is a family studio founded by Jared Rooks in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, where he and his wife, Sarah, are raising their family. It began with a simple struggle — reaching for the Bible in the morning and getting pulled into social media instead — and a simple conviction: build the feed that points back to Scripture. Today the studio develops original apps and ministry media, starting with Scarlet Thread and Selah Scroll.

Our Work

What we’re making

Purpose-built software for daily faith — designed to be picked up every morning and to put the phone down sooner, not later.

Scarlet Thread

“Every thread leads to the cross.”

An interactive Bible app built like the feed you already reach for — one Scripture card at a time — that traces the scarlet thread of Jesus through the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. It was made to replace doomscrolling, not compete with it.

  • Daily Scripture feed — a guided reading journey, card by card
  • Pray — guided prayer cards with studio voices, free for everyone
  • Walk Me Through It — a daily recap that puts you in the scene, opens up a Greek or Hebrew word, and shows where Christ is in the passage
  • Ask with AI — word studies and questions answered from the text, with citations, for Plus members
Ask about the beta Plus: $4.99/mo or $29.99/yr · Studio voices and the daily feed are free

Selah Scroll

Selah — pause, and think on that. Selah Scroll is a companion Bible app for slower reading: space to sit with a passage, reflect, and listen, without a feed pulling you onward. Currently in development alongside Scarlet Thread.

In the workshop

Ministry media & future titles

The studio’s charter is broader than two apps. In the workshop now:

  • Short-form video and teaching media for the apps’ launches
  • Study resources for couples, families, and small groups reading together
  • Future original titles, built on the same foundation: Scripture first, craft always

How We Work

Three things we won’t compromise

01

Scripture at the center

Every feature starts from the text itself. When our apps use AI, it helps with language, context, and meaning — cited to the passage — and it never plays the Holy Spirit. The goal is always the same: focus everything back on Jesus.

02

Attention given back, not taken

We don’t sell your attention and we don’t engineer addiction. No ads, no engagement traps. A good morning with our apps ends with the phone face-down and the Word still on your mind.

03

Built like it has to last

Stone, not sand. We ship carefully, test honestly, and charge fairly — founding subscribers keep their pricing, credits are always shown before they’re spent, and a failed answer never costs you anything.
